Kit Gordy is forced to attend Blackwood Hall while her mom and new stepdad go off on their honeymoon around Europe. At first sight, she sees the school and has immediate bad vibes; the house looks evil. Is it all in her head? No, it is definitely more menacing that she or anyone could ever imagine. There are only 4 students enrolled and each of them soon discover that they all have one thing in common; they can see what others can't and what they can see are ghosts. Blackwood is haunted and Kit soon finds herself fighting for control of her mind against ghosts who each want a turn to live again through her and the other students. Some of these ghosts were poets, musicians and even mathematicians. Kit was right about her suspicions. The staff and Blackwood itself is not as it seems.

This wasn't a bad read. It was definitely scary and I found it hard to read at night because of that, so it gets points for scaring me to death. The main characters were likeable but at certain points in the story some of the things they did was very confusing. I liked that this book could still be scary without the usual blood and gore. The suspense was maddening and unpredictable which is good because there's no point in reading a book if you can guess everything that is going to happen. The love connection between Jules and Kit was very underdeveloped. I also hated the way it ended. I feel like there should be a sequel to explain what happened to Kit and her friends after the end events at Blackwood. Something was missing and I can't quite put my finger on it. 

I give Down a Dark Hall 3 out of 5 stars.

This is one of my top ten favourite books of all time and I haven't even read the second or third book yet so that's saying a lot. You know those books that haunt you long after you've finished reading? That's the kind of writing you'll find in Dark Inside. Days later I am still thinking about the story, the character and the unbelievable dark world the author has created. There is something so realistic about this novel. It compares to our world in so many ways.

There is an earthquake. A crack in the world. Darkness escapes and engulfs all of humanity, awakening the most evil of things buried inside us since we first came into existence. The story is told from several different characters who are trying to survive this new world and fight the evil inside them. It is easy for some and damn near impossible for others. Main characters can be villains and villains can turn out to be the saviour of humanity. Clementine is definitely my favourite of all the characters. She's on a one woman mission to find her brother and she will die trying if she has to. I love her strength through everything that she has been through. I love zombie books and even though the people aren't zombies they are crazy, murderous and evil.
Dark Inside grips you from the first page and pulls you unwillingly into a monstrous world that compares to ours in so many dark and twisted ways. I usually find books that feature multiple POV of different characters extremely annoying, but the author does it so beautifully in Dark Inside that it isn't annoying at all. I have already purchased the second and third book and will be binge reading them for the next couple weeks. This books is a cross between The Crazies and Darkest Minds...kind of.

Rating - I rate this book a 5 out of 5. If you love apocalyptic books like Darkest Minds and zombies, this book is for you. Highly Addictive.

Kate moves back to her mother’s home town of Eden to fulfil her mothers dying wish. It doesn’t take long before an unfortunate event hits hard that kills one of her classmates. As her friend dies, Kate meets Hades who also goes by the name Henry. He brings her classmate back to life and in exchange Kate must live with him for six months and undergo a series of tests. If she passes she will marry him and rule the underworld with him forever. If she fails she will forget ever meeting him and Hades or Henry will fade, which is the same as dying. The tests are not easy because all the other girls before her were murdered by someone hellbent on preventing Hades from marrying anyone and ruling the underworld.

The world the author described is very unique. It is very different and not what you expect it to be. Majority of the book takes place inside this gorgeous mansion where most of the staff are actually dead people. Kate forms friendships and enemies faster than you can blink. My favourite character is actually Hades or Henry for the sake of this review we’ll just call him Hades. He is very sweet and caring which would not be my initial though for the god of the underworld. Most fiction writings portray him as cruel and evil and always up to no good, but in the goddess test Hades was the complete opposite. He wasn’t moody but he does carry around a heavy burden. He is kind, caring and fiercely protective. I found Kate annoying at the beginning. All these miracles were going on around her and she still refused to believe about magic or gods or anything at all.

Rating – I rate this book 5 stars. It is definitely one of my favourite books and I can’t wait to get started on the rest of the series. Be warned that this book is sad, it made me cry throughout and it will definitely haunt you long after you’ve finished reading it.
